Beyond Division: Collective Integration In Person in Ireland

An in-person introductory workshop with David Young, hosted by Simon Courtney.

How can we stay connected when our perspectives differ?

In families, communities, workplaces and public life, difficult conversations can quickly become places of tension or distance. We may want to listen and understand, yet find ourselves reacting, withdrawing or struggling to be heard.

The Art of Collective Integration offers an approach to understanding what happens beneath these divisions, and supporting a return to relationship.

Join David Young, Simon Courtney and his team for an introduction to how unresolved personal and collective experiences influence the ways we meet one another. Together, we’ll explore how embodied presence and relational awareness can help us make room for different perspectives without needing immediate agreement.

What to expect

  • Through teaching, guided practice and reflection together, we’ll explore:

    • How we stay present when differences stir something in us.

    • How we listen more closely to ourselves, to one another, and to what is unfolding in the group.

    • How we make room for different experiences and perspectives, without needing to agree.

    • What helps us find our way back into relationship when connection feels difficult.

There will be space for questions, for what emerges between us, and for considering how this work might support the relationships and communities we are part of.

What happens between us when difference becomes division, and what might help us stay in relationship?

This workshop invites us to explore how our personal experiences and collective histories shape the ways we listen, respond and relate.

Together, we’ll bring attention to what happens within us, between us, and in the groups we belong to.

What do we bring into the room?
The experiences, inherited stories and assumptions that influence how we meet one another, sometimes consciously, often without realising.

What happens when differences become charged?
How we react, protect ourselves or lose connection, and what might help us stay grounded and curious in those moments.

What makes connection possible?
How we can make space for different experiences without needing agreement, and begin to hear what tension or disagreement may be asking us to understand.

Through teaching, embodied practice and reflection together, we’ll explore these questions in our own experience.

An invitation to slow down, listen more closely, and discover how we might meet one another with greater presence.

This is an invitation to slow down and listen to what happens within us and between us when connection becomes difficult. To recognise how our histories live in the present, and explore what helps us recover a felt sense of “us”—even when we see things differently.

Your teacher and host

David Young · Teacher

Teacher, Facilitator & Developer of the Art of Collective Integration

David’s work explores how we meet polarization, conflict and collective trauma within our relationships and communities. Drawing on mindfulness, systems thinking and approaches to trauma healing, he supports groups in recognising the deeper experiences that shape how we relate.

His teaching invites people to stay present with complexity, listen beneath the surface of disagreement, and discover what becomes possible when we make room for one another.

Simon Courtney

Psychotherapist, Coach & Group Facilitator

Simon is an Irish psychotherapist and coach whose work explores the relationship between our inner lives and the wider histories and communities we belong to. Alongside his private practice, he works as a mentor and facilitator within Thomas Hübl’s training programmes.

With a particular interest in Irish identity, belonging and collective healing, Simon creates spaces to explore the stories we have inherited and how they live within us today. His approach invites a deeper relationship with ourselves and one another, through presence, curiosity and honest conversation.
